2025 Debate Camp registration is open!
My name is Kaleb Thomas, I am a highschool junior. I enjoy reading, games, and karate. This is my second year in NCFCA. Last year I competed in Apologetics, Impromptu, Extemporaneous, Persuasive and Lincoln Douglas debate. While I did not advance in any category I did come close by winning half of my debates and averaging around fourth or fifth in apologetics and impromptu at two regional tournaments. You might think I would be disappointed to not advance in any category, but at the end of the year I was glad of not advancing because it taught me an extremely important lesson.
We should do all things for Christ. This truly struck me when writing my persuasive speech on expectations. I realized I didn’t care if I broke as long as I impacted someone. This stretches to every category, even debate. We build our skills so once we journey into adulthood we will be equipped to spread God’s word. We must seek to glorify God and follow His will in everything we do.
For to me, To live is Christ and to die is gain. - Philippians 1:21
