Thank you for your interest in joining Legacy for Christ Speech and Debate Club!
Please look over the details on this page, as they set the stage for the expectations of our community.
Our community truly shines when everyone is actively present and consistently involved. This level of participation—and the details listed below—is what allows us to truly support the success and character building of our students.
We recognize that we may not be the perfect match for every family’s schedule or priorities. If you are unable to fulfill these duties as an active parent or consistently bring your best effort right now, please explore other clubs that may better suit your schedule and needs. We look forward to welcoming those who are ready to move forward and jump right into being an enthusiastic part of our group!
*THIS IS NOT A DROP OFF PROGRAM. *
Legacy For Christ, along with NCFCA, cultivates real-world communication skills in teens, preparing them for life. Our students become poised speakers, curious researchers, and resilient advocates for a Biblical worldview. Through constructive feedback, they build wisdom and character, developing the critical thinking skills needed to engage with our culture compassionately and with integrity.
Our Mission:
To become compelling communicators for Christ equipped with the competence and character needed to influence our culture, always ready to listen attentively, think critically, speak articulately, and persuade effectively - able and willing to speak with voices of truth.
Club Verses:
"Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have." - 1 Peter 3:15
"Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity." - 1 Timothy 4:12
* It is important to note that PARENTS are REQUIRED to attend club days, and be actively learning alongside their students, as they are a vital part of the Legacy for Christ Speech and Debate Club. THIS IS NOT A DROP OFF PROGRAM.
*Additionally, all new debaters and parents are REQUIRED to attend the Legacy for Christ summer debate training, which is usually scheduled towards the end of July.
Legacy trains students to improve their skills in communication through club activities such as apologetics and impromptu speaking as well as several other speech events, debate, competitions, and speaking in the community. This fall we will be offering Lincoln Douglas Value debate and Team Policy debate. In the fall, our club focus is training and blessing our community. The focus for the spring is on preparation to compete in tournaments.

Each student is REQUIRED to compete in at least one in-person NCFCA tournament per season, and because these events are held throughout the state, travel outside of the Orlando area may be necessary. To support the tournament’s operation, parents are REQUIRED to serve as judges and must remain on-site for the entire duration of the event, typically from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Additionally, families must maintain an active NCFCA account and handle affiliation fees directly, as these are separate from Legacy fees. *See below for more financial considerations.
ACTIVE PARENT involvement is required for participation in our club. At least one PARENT must be present and actively learning alongside their student(s) at all Legacy meetings. Parents are responsible for providing constructive critique and feedback on speeches and debate rounds during club time. This hands-on experience is essential, as it directly prepares PARENTS for their REQUIRED role as judges at NCFCA tournaments their student attends.
Legacy is not a drop-off program. To ensure the safety and operational integrity of our club, a PARENT must remain on-site with their student for the full duration of every club meeting. Our community relies on the consistent presence of its members; therefore, students are expected to attend every scheduled session. Furthermore, all absences require prior approval from leadership. We ask that you only move forward with membership if you are fully prepared to honor this commitment to consistent and active, involvement. Excessive number of absences could jeopordize your membership.
All families are REQUIRED to stay late and help clean up starting at 4:00 pm, once or twice per semester. This takes approximately 30-45 minutes.
The oldest participating student in the family must be at least 12 years of age by January 1st.
A business casual dress code must be observed by EVERYONE (adults & students) on campus. We ask that all applicants agree to abide by this dress code as a condition of membership. Full dress code policy here.
Students, ages 7-11, may attend Legacy and participate in our afternoon Juniors program if they have an older sibling actively competing in the club.
Children ages 0-7 are also most welcome! They may accompany the parent as we do not have a program for younger children.
A family photo is REQUIRED for the Legacy website and yearbook and security purposes. A photo release must be signed before participation at Legacy.
All Families are REQUIRED to help support Legacy fundraising efforts, including the annual ball. This effort is crucial in maintaining affordable membership fees for all club members.
All Families are REQUIRED to participate in a community outreach event in the fall.
All Families are REQUIRED to participate in our church service/cleaning day in the spring.
If you are unable to fulfill these duties as an ACTIVE parent & family,
please explore other clubs that may better suit your schedule and needs.
