2025 Debate Camp registration is open!
Thank you for your interest in joining Legacy for Christ Speech and Debate Club!
Legacy For Christ, along with NCFCA, cultivates real-world communication skills in teens, preparing them for life. Our students become poised speakers, curious researchers, and resilient advocates for a biblical worldview. Through constructive feedback, they build wisdom and character, developing the critical thinking skills needed to engage with our culture compassionately and with integrity.
Our Mission:
To become compelling communicators for Christ equipped with the competence and character needed to influence our culture, always ready to listen attentively, think critically, speak articulately, and persuade effectively - able and willing to speak with voices of truth.
Club Verses:
"Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have." - 1 Peter 3:15
"Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity." - 1 Timothy 4:12
It is important to note that parents are REQUIRED to attend meetings, as they are a vital part of the Legacy for Christ Speech and Debate Club. This is not a drop-off program.
Additionally, all new debaters are REQUIRED to attend the Legacy for Christ summer debate camp, which is scheduled for July 28-30, 2025. If our summer camp dates do not work for your family, please contact a board member at legacy4christspeechanddebate@gmail.com.
Legacy trains students to improve their skills in communication through club activities such as apologetics and impromptu speaking as well as eight other speech events, debate, competitions, and speaking in the community. Each student is required to compete in at least one NCFCA tournament. It may be an online tournament or in person tournament. NCFCA account is required. NCFCA fees are separate from Legacy fees.
At least one parent must be present and actively participating at Legacy Meetings with their student(s). Parents will provide critique and give feedback on speeches and debate rounds at club. Additionally, parents are required to serve as judges at NCFCA tournaments that your student attends.
A parent or a designated stand-in is required to be present at each club meeting for students to participate. This ensures proper supervision and support for all students during club activities. Legacy is NOT a drop off program.
All families are REQUIRED to stay late and help clean up starting at 4:00 pm once or twice per semester. This takes approximately 30-45 minutes.
The oldest participating student in the family must be at least 12 years of age by January 1st.
A business casual dress code must be observed by BOTH parents and students. For boys, we recommend khakis or dress pants with a dress shirt or polo shirt. For girls, skirts to mid-knee or dress pants with a blouse would be appropriate. Please note: no leggings, t-shirts, jeans, shorts, tank tops, flip flops or crocs. Sneakers are ok. Failure to comply may result in being asked to leave campus.
Students, ages 7-11, may attend Legacy and participate in our Juniors program if they have an older sibling actively participating in the club.
Children ages 0-7 are also most welcome! They may accompany the parent as we do not have a program for younger children.
A family photo is required for the Legacy website and yearbook.
All Families are REQUIRED to help support Legacy fundraising efforts, including the annual ball. This effort is crucial in maintaining affordable membership fees for all club members.
The Legacy Registration Fee is $100 for each family, $50 for the first student, $40 for each additional student up to three students. The 4th student and additional students are free. All fees are NON-Refundable.
All members must affiliate with NCFCA. Please visit ncfca.org for the NCFCA Fee Structure. Legacy fees are separate from NCFCA fees. Upon your affiliation, please email your receipt to legacy4christspeechanddebate@gmail.com.
Keep in mind you will also be responsible for registration and travel expenses (hotel and food costs) in connection with competing in NCFCA tournaments. Tournaments range from 3 to 4 days in length. Tournament costs can be found on the NCFCA tournament registration fees page. Hotel and food costs will vary depending on the location of each tournament. Legacy does not coordinate hotel reservations or food for your family.
