2025 Debate Camp registration is open!
Hello! My name is Owen. I’ll be entering my fourth year in NCFCA and my junior year of high school. I am personally focused on living a Christ-like life and dedicating my life to God, which my time in NCFCA and Legacy have assisted me with immensely. We are social people, and no matter how much we try to avoid using our skills, we’ll have to be able to speak and communicate with those around us, so we might as well do it right — especially since we’ll want to handle communication with non-believers in an appropriate, calm, and respectful way.
I’m truly grateful for my competitive success in various events like extemporaneous, digital presentation, Lincoln Douglas, and Team Policy debate, but I also am passionate about where I can dedicate myself elsewhere too! Outside NCFCA, I’m a dedicated member of a competitive rowing team, learning through dual enrollment, and serving in a youth leadership position in my church. I’ve always enjoyed computer science and am blessed with many opportunities to pursue my interests, making sure I’ve got something else to do rather than write nearly dangerous amounts of debate briefs.
For me, I hold the technical skills I’ve learned through Legacy, the friendships, and opportunities to connect above the competitive success. I’m blessed to have this opportunity to serve and give back to my Legacy community as I near the end of my High School career, and look eagerly to see what doors God has opened up in my life!
"But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me."
— 2 Corinthians 12:9
